Woodrow Wilson Purifoy, Jr. age 73 of Camden, AR passed from this life to his eternal home on Tuesday, October 11, 2022. He was born on August 18, 1949, to the late Woodrow Wilson, Sr. and Dora Frances Purifoy of Camden. Along with his parents, Woodrow “Jr.” is preceded in death by one brother Jimmie Purifoy and one sister Jessie Ever Purifoy. Left to cherish his memory is one sister Myretha Johnson and one brother Homer Purifoy (Addie “Tippy”) of Camden, a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends.
Jr., as he was affectionately known by family and friends, had worked for the old Jacket King in Camden. He was diagnosed at a young age with polio but did not let that keep him from enjoying life. Despite his limitations, he was an avid trapper. He enjoyed live trapping for furs, and he loved his family, friends and animals. He had an admiration and sharp mind when it came to vehicles. Although he was no mechanic, he could tell you all about a vehicle including the year, make, model and engine. He loved to fish, whether by cane pole, trotline or yo-yos. Jr. filled his time watching ballgames and wrestling on TV and he preferred to listen to Charles Stanley on Sunday mornings.
The family would like to thank the staff of Hospice, OCMC and The Springs of Camden formerly Pine Hills Nursing Home for all the love and support shown in his final time here on this earth. Viewing will be Friday, October 14, 2022, at Benton Funeral Home in Bearden from 6:00-8:00 p.m. with a graveside held at Lakeside Cemetery in Camden on Saturday, October 22, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to OCMC Hospice.
