Wilma Faye Stewart Robinson, of Fordyce, Arkansas, went to be with the Lord, Thursday, Sept 27, 2024 while holding her daughter’s hand.
Wilma was born December 30, 1937 to Samuel Floyd and Agnes Marie Morse Stewart in Estelline, Texas. She was the youngest of six children. The family eventually settled in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. She graduated from Pine Bluff High School. Her love of music led to her being a proud member of the Pine Bluff High School Marching Band where she played cornet. For a time, she was First Chair and was the only female to hold the position during her time in the band. As a young woman, she also played her horn and sang duets with her sister in church.
Wilma married Curtis McClellan in 1956. They were married for 32 years and had three daughters.
She was a woman of strength and determination with a strong work ethic. She was the first woman hired to work production at Phelps Dodge Corp. She quickly moved into the Quality Control Lab, which she loved. She worked at various other companies after the plant closed and she retired from General Dynamics working Quality Control.
She had a fun, playful nature and loved amusement rides, paddle boats, and car trips. She was the mom that convinced us to ride the roller coaster with her at Six Flags. She enjoyed games and game shows, especially Wheel of Fortune and The Price is Right. She loved dancing and had a nice collection of cowboy boots she would wear. Wilma was creative and enjoyed sketching, painting, and photography. She loved coordinating color and textures, whether in her home or her wardrobe. She appreciated cars and could quickly identify year, make, and model. She had a sharp mind and an amazing memory to the very end. She cared deeply about animals and rescued many throughout her lifetime. She loved her pets.
Wilma loved her family, friends, and her church family. She adored her grandchildren and her great grandchildren. She loved showing pictures of them to any visitor. She was always there for her family. Her trust in Jesus was her strong foundation. She was a faithful member of Zion Baptist Church. When she couldn’t be there in person, she loved watching the online services until the end of her life.
She is forever lovingly remembered by her children, Cheryl Eudy and Karen Blankenship; grandchildren, Lauren (Steven) Litton and Robyn (Michael) Field; great grandchildren Benjamin, Callum, Caroline, Thomas, Wesley, and brother, Wilson Stewart.
She was preceded in death by her infant daughter, Donna Renee; her parents; sisters, Vera Searle and Kathryn Searle; brothers, Kenneth Stewart and Clifton Stewart.
Funeral Services will be Saturday, October 5, 2024, at the Benton Funeral Home Chapel in Fordyce, Arkansas. Visitation will be 9:30 am with services following at 10 am. Rev. Scott Smith officiating.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Zion Missionary Baptist Church or Morning Meadow Animal Rescue (MMAR) of Fordyce, Arkansas.
