William E. Downey

William E. Downey, 82, of Fordyce, died Wednesday June 30, 2010 at the St. John's Place Nursing Home in Fordyce. Mr. Downey was born in Blairsville, PA to the late Homer Barkley & Myrtle Robinson Downey. Mr. Downey was retired from Ford Motor Company & was a member of the Holly Springs Baptist Church. Mr. Downey honorably & faithfully served his country in the United States Navy during World War II.

He is survived by his wife, Mary E. Downey, a son, Todd Downey of Lima, OH; three daughters, Paulette Wilges of Fordyce, AR, Linda Schleter of Delphos, OH, Rebecca Downey of Lima, OH; a sister, Ramona Cribbs of Blarisville, PA; four grandchildren, seven great grandchildren, & three great great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Saturday, July 3, 2010 at the Holly Springs Baptist Church. Burial will be in Rest Haven Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Arkadelphia, AR, with the Rev. David Dillard officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Friday evening at the funeral home in Fordyce. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
