Walter Lewis Wells, 73, of Little Rock, Arkansas, died Tuesday January 20, 2009. He was born April 12, 1935, in Imboden, Arkansas and grew up in Lewisville, Arkansas. He graduated from The University of Arkansas, Fayetteville, Arkansas. For more than 40 years, Lewis was an active member of St. Paul United Methodist Church. He served in the Navy aboard the Aircraft Carrier USS Randolph. Lewis worked for Smith Fiberglass from 1964 until his retirement in 2000. He was an avid outdoorsman. Lewis loved to deer hunt, hike and play tennis. He was preceded in death by his parents, Frank Stuart Wells and Audrey Morris Wells and one sister, Nettie Smith. Lewis is survived by his wife, Gail Newton Wells; son Kevin Lewis Wells and wife Deborah of Little Rock, Arkansas; his daughter Karin Wells Smith and husband Mike of Nashville, Tennessee; two brothers Frank Wells and wife Ann of Lewisville, Arkansas; John Wells and wife Dot of Hammond, Louisiana; one sister, Kathleen Heath of Rhode Island; and four grandchildren Audra Wells, Alexander Wells of Little Rock, Taylor Smith and Sara Smith of Nashville. Lewis's memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, January, 23, at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 2223 Durwood Road, Little Rock 72207. Visitation to follow.
