Walter Gene Madera

February 10, 1956 — September 27, 2024

Walter Gene Madera was born in Bastrop, Louisiana on February 10, 1956. He left us suddenly and unexpectedly on September 27, 2024 at 68 years of age. He grew up in Hampton, Arkansas and married the love of his life August 9, 1974. His parents were Harry Madera and Thelma Cottrell Madera. He enjoyed hunting, fishing and loved the outdoors. He especially loved his last job at Scruggs Timberland Services. Most of all he was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend.

Besides his parents, he is preceded in death by his first-born daughter Jackie Nannette, his wife Debra, and his brothers Jerry and Clarence Madera. He is survived by his loving children, son Chance Madera, daughter Brenna Perry (Jake); grandchildren Jace Madera, Thomas Perry, Keaton Kinley, Reid Madera, Beckett Kinley and Adalyn Perry; two nieces that he loved like his own Jeanna Marie Reynolds and Julie Ashcraft; along with many other beloved nieces and nephews.

His family and friends will miss the days of sitting under that old oak tree in the front yard, talking, laughing, and sharing stories.

We would like to express our sincere appreciation to Todd Scruggs and crew for the kindness and support shown to Walter during the time of his wife’s illness and to our family at his passing.

Graveside services will be 2PM Monday, September 30, 2024 at New Hope Cemetery in Woodberry. Douglas Inzer will officiate.
