Virgil Lynn Cox of Fordyce departed this life at Camden, AR on March 19, 2019 at the age of 78. Born October 5, 1940 at Jonesville, LA, He was the son of the late Steve and Alice Cox.
Virgil began his life as the son of a farmer on the bayous of Louisiana. After he graduated from College, he went on to become a minister, fireman and a refrigeration repairman, but horses, cows and growing things were always his passion. In 1990, he and his wife, Jeannie retired to Fordyce, Where he completed his life circle and once again became a farmer and rancher.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife Jeannie Cox; two children, Carl Cox and Katherine Cox; step-son, Buddy Shepherd; and niece, Tonya Lading.
He is survived by three grandchildren, Travis Johnson, Matthew Ash, and Katelyn Ash; two sisters, Donna Lading and Cleda Owen; step-daughter, Patricia Davis; step-grandchildren, Leah, Danielle, and Graham Davis; two nephews, Steve McCormick and Mark Lading; two nieces Michelle Dudley and Christina Britton.
The family will receive friends Friday March 22, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday March 23, 2019 at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce with Rev. Jimmy Owens and Rev. Danny Patterson officiating. Burial will follow at Benton Cemetery.
