Verna J. Mcvay

April 17, 1945 — December 17, 2008

Verna Jean McVay gave up this imperfect life for the perfection we all hope for on December 17, 2008. She was preceded in death by her father, William Vern Garrison, her mother, Beulah Edrie Worsham, and her step-father, Woodrow Wilson Worsham. She is survived by her brother, Don Garrison and his wife, Carol of Fort Walton Beach, Florida; by her nephews, Sean Garrison, his wife Donna, and their two sons Kyle and Dylan; Brian Garrison, his wife Susan and their two sons, Riley and Ezra; and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Until her retirement, she worked for the Corps of Engineers field office at Blakely Dam. She was a member of Hickory Grove Baptist Church, where, because of her great love for children, she volunteered in the nursery on a regular basis. Verna Jean will always be remembered as a person who had a heart for giving, a love for her family and friends, and above all, a love for the Lord.

The family would like to thank the wonderful, caring staff of Arkansas Hospice at St. Joseph's Mercy Health Center in Hot Springs, who lovingly cared for Verna Jean in her last days. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Arkansas Hospice (Hot Springs Inpatient Hospice Services) at 5600 West 12th Street, Little Rock, AR 72204.

Funeral arrangements are being made by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce, AR. Viewing will be held 5:00 until 7:00 pm Friday December 18, 2008 at the funeral home in Fordyce.
