Vera Mae Burks Snow

Vera Burks Snow, 96, of Fordyce, Arkansas, passed away peacefully on August 9, 2026, in Hot Springs, Arkansas. Born May 9, 1930, in New Edinburg, Arkansas, Vera lived a beautiful life centered around her faith, her family, and caring for others.

Vera was preceded in death by her parents, Wallace and Laura Mae Sinclair; her siblings, Verna Ray, James, Ethel, and Edna; her first husband, J.C. Burks, whom she shared 43 years with before his passing in 1989; her second husband, Jesse Snow, whom she married in 1991 and shared 27 years with; her daughter, Dorothy Burks Dees; and her grandson, Dennis Dees.

Vera is survived by her daughter, Kristy Shirey, and her grandchildren, Cannon Dees, Brooke Bagley, Emily Fields, and Matthew Shirey. Her legacy continues through her six great-grandchildren, Dustin, Cassie, Dylan, Avery, Asher, and Evie Mae, as well as her five great-great-grandchildren, with another little blessing on the way.

Vera loved her family fiercely and found her greatest joy in being a wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She was known for her sweet spirit, her sassy personality, and her willingness to care for others. She enjoyed camping and fishing and treasured the time spent making memories with the people she loved.

Above all, Vera loved Jesus. She was a faithful member of Smith Chapel Church of God, where her faith and friendships were an important part of her life. While her family mourns the loss of someone so dearly loved, they find great comfort in knowing that Vera has gone home to be with Jesus.

The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Belvedere Nursing Home in Hot Springs for the loving and compassionate care they provided to Vera in her later years.

Vera’s life was a gift to her family and to all who knew her. Her love, faith, sweetness, and sass will live on in the generations she leaves behind. Though she will be deeply missed, her family rejoices knowing that this is not goodbye forever, but simply until they meet again.

Visitation will be Saturday, August 15, 2026 from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday Benton Funeral Home with Rev.
