Truman Phill Womble

Truman Phill Womble, age 80, of Fordyce, Arkansas, peacefully passed from this life and entered his heavenly home on September 16, 2026.

Truman was the beloved son of the late Needo and Cora Womble, of the Croak Community near Carthage, Arkansas. He was a graduate of Kingsland High School, Class of 1963, and was a faithful member of the Assembly of God faith.

Throughout his life, Truman was known as a hardworking man with gifted hands and a generous heart. He was a retired member of the Cooterneck fire department and worked as a mechanic by trade. Simply put, if it had a motor, Truman could fix it—and if necessary, he could rebuild it too. Whether it was a vehicle, tractor, lawn mower, or piece of heavy equipment, Truman had a remarkable ability to understand how things worked and bring them back to life.

But Truman’s greatest gift was not simply what he could repair with his hands—it was the way he used those hands to help others. He was always willing to lend a hand to someone in need and was known for being honest, hardworking, respectable, reliable, wise, and devoted to God.

When he wasn’t working, Truman enjoyed making knives, fishing for bream, and deer hunting. He loved sharing what he knew with the people he loved, especially his family. He believed in teaching them all he could because, in his words, “it could come in handy one day.” Those lessons, both practical and spiritual, will continue to live on through the lives he touched.

Truman was a devoted husband to his wife of nearly 60 years, Ruth Jean Nowlin Womble, whom he married on December 23, 1966. Their life together was built through years of love, commitment, faith, and family.

He was also a devoted father and grandfather to his only grandchild he lovingly called “Booger”. His family was deeply important to him, and he loved them greatly. Truman served as the spiritual leader of his home, providing not only for the needs of his family but also offering guidance, wisdom, encouragement, and support throughout his life.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife, Ruth Womble; his daughter, Teresa Watson; his grandson, Samuel Downen, all of Fordyce; and his special friend and caregiver, Ronnie Miles of Rison.

Truman was preceded in death by his parents, Needo and Cora Womble; his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Pearl Womble; his sister and brother-in-law, Catherine and Jerome Anderson; and his son-in-law, Tim Watson.

Truman Womble leaves behind more than memories. He leaves a legacy of faith, hard work, generosity, wisdom, devotion, and love for family. The tools may now be still, the projects completed, and the lessons spoken, but the life he lived will continue to speak for generations.

His family will remember the man who could fix almost anything, who was willing to help anyone, who loved his family deeply, and who faithfully served God.

His work on earth is finished, but his legacy will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Sunday at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce with Rev. Loise Moses and Rev.
