Travis L. Smith

Travis L. Smith, 78, of Hampton died Wednesday October 14, 2009 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas at El Dorado. Born July 23, 1931 at Smackover, he was a son of the late Clarence W. and Myrtice Elizabeth Thompson Smith. He was a retired painting contractor and an Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, W.P. Smith, Otis Smith, and Willis Smith; one sister, Clarie Givens. Mr. Smith is suvived by his wife, Catherine L. Johnson Smith of Hampton; one son, Mark E. Smith of Camden; one daughter, Deborah Murphy of Fountain Hill; one sister, Robin Ione Wilson of Siloam Springs; five grandchildren, Travis Braswell, Wesley Smith, Bryant Murphy, Tiffany White, India Farmer; four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 9 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Hampton. Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Saturday at Antioch Baptist Church near Hampton with Revs. Mike Nutt and Gayle Ellen officiating. Burial in Pickett Cemetery.
