Travis Julian Posey, 72 of New Edinburg died Saturday February 20, 2021 at his home. Born May 25, 1948 at Sparkman, he was a son of the late Albert Julian Posey and Sarah Humphries Posey. He was a member of Smith Chapel Church of God and a US Marine Corps veteran, of which he was proud to have served his country in the Vietnam War. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he loved teaching others about the outdoors.
He was preceded in death by his parents and four sisters, Mary Benson, Elizabeth Metcalf, Marie Lash and Wanda Posey.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Mitchell Posey of New Edinburg; one son, Travis E. “Joey” Posey of New Edinburg; two daughters, Lorie Posey of Sheridan, Stacy Posey of Sheridan; one brother, Clifton Posey of Camden; one sister, Savannah Benson of Bearden; three grandchildren, Kendyl Erwin of Fordyce, Judge Erwin of Fordyce, Rylee Erwin of Sheridan.
The family will receive friends Monday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at Smith Chapel Church of God with Rev.
