T. Wayne Walker, 70, of Benton, Arkansas, born July 30, 1939, departed this life on August 8, 2009. He was predeceased by his parents, William H. Walker, Sr., and Iola House Walker.
He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Betty Walden Walker; one son, Christopher W. Walker; a sister, Nancy Garner and brother-in-law, James of Texarkana; a brother, William H. Walker, Jr. and sister-in-law, Julie of Vilonia; a niece, Brenda Cross of Fouke; and a nephew, Tommy Garner of Texarkana.
Wayne served in the U.S. Navy after graduating high school at Pine Bluff, Arkansas, then worked as an insurance agent for 26 years. His clients esteemed him for his honesty and integrity.
He was a charter member of Wesley United Methodist Church in Pine Bluff where he was a member of the Fidelis Sunday School Class and served as chairman of the Staff/Parish Relations Committee.
Wayne enjoyed various activities over the years, including hunting, model railroading, and flying radio controlled airplanes he had built. He was an accomplished woodworker who had made many pieces of furniture.
The family requests that any memorials be made to Wesley United Methodist Church,Pine Bluff, AR, or the American Institute for Cancer Research.
Visitation will be Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce.
