Silas Alfred Reynolds, 89 of Hampton, died May 20, 2008 at Ouachita Nursing and Rehab in Camden, Arkansas. Born February 13, 1919 in Calhoun County, he was a lifelong resident of Hampton, Arkansas. Mr. Reynolds served in the United States Army during WWII, receiving two Bronze Service Stars and a Purple Heart before he was honorably discharged on July 30, 1945. He retired from International Paper Company where he was employed for thirty two years.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Leona Pearl Reynolds; three sons, Jerry Reynolds and wife Linda of Camden, Lynn Reynolds and wife Beverly of Hot Springs, and Wayne Reynolds and wife Beth of Hampton; four grandchildren, Lance Reynolds and Jana Reynolds of Hampton, Kevin Reynolds, and Jeana Reynolds of Hampton; two step grandchildren, Steve Ivy and Mandy Strickland of Hampton; six great grandchildren and four step-great grandchildren, all of Hampton; one brother and sister-in-law, Mr. And Mrs. Pet Reynolds of Warren, and many nieces and nephews.
Mr. Reynolds was preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Pearl Reynolds, his parents, Mr. And Mrs. S.C. Reynolds, one brother, Ennis Ables of Sheridan, and four sisters, Mrs. Jettie Mae Tucker, Mrs. Virgie Avant, and Mrs. Dessie Ables, all of Hampton, and Mrs. Daisy Bass of Tucumcari, New Mexico.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 22, 2008, from 6 PM until 8 PM at Benton Funeral Home in Hampton. Graveside services will be 2 PM Friday, May 23, 2008, at Pickett Cemetery in Calhoun County. Pallbearers are grandsons, Lance and Kevin Reynolds of Hampton, nephews, Howard Tucker of Bryant and Billy Ables of Sheridan, and Kent Strickland and Hershel Reynolds of Hampton.
