Shelby Rose Freer Brandon, age 77 of Sherwood, Arkansas went home to be with her Lord on April 8, 2023. She was born August 7, 1945 in Fordyce, Arkansas.
Shelby was a devoted mother, nanny, sister and wife. She retired from Arkansas Blue Cross and Blue Shield after 18 years of service as FEP Supervisor. She enjoyed her family and attending church, where she was currently a member of Kellogg Valley Baptist Church in Sherwood. Shelby enjoyed hosting and coordinating the “Just Us Girls” days at the Kingsland Missionary Baptist Church where she was previously a member for 20 years.
Shelby is preceded in death by her parents, J.C. and Elizabeth Garner Freer; husband of 52 years Glen Brandon; and her brother, Sonny Freer. She is survived by two children, Robin Noles (Carroll) and Lora Rice (Paul); seven grandchildren, Jonathan Mertens (Lauren), Erica Hutchens (Michael), Justin Mertens (Kaila), Danny Rice (Heather) Jennifer Rice, Miranda Rice, Robin Smith (Nick); and great grandchildren, John Mertens, Emma Mertens, James Mertens, Berkley Hutchens, Sierra Hutchens, Jace Sorrells, Avery Marvin, Maddox Smith, Adley Smith, Sean Rice, Ric Rice (Jessica) and Hayzel Rice; sisters, Susan Freer and Kathy Hardman (Jerry).
Visitation will be 5:00 pm until 7:00 pm Tuesday at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Her life celebration service will be 10:00 am Wednesday at Kingsland Missionary Baptist Church with Rev. Rick Bolin, Rev. Paul Rice and Brother Jerry Hardman officiating. Burial will follow at Kingsland Cemetery. Arrangements by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
