Seth Wayne Campbell

July 9, 1941 — October 14, 2022

On Friday October 14, 2022 the Lord Jesus called Seth Wayne Campbell of Fordyce from Heaven’s open door to come see His handiwork made just for him, leaving family and friends with a lifetime of precious memories. On July 9, 1941, Wayne made his appearance on this earth. He was welcomed by his dad, Seth Ward Campbell, mother, Annie Ruth Campbell and four year old sister Wanda Sue Campbell.
Wayne attended Robert E. Lee Elementary, West Side Junior High, Little Rock Central High, and graduated from Chamberlain-Hunt in Port Gibson, MS. He attended Arkansas Technical Russellville. While at Chamberlain-Hunt he had the opportunity to appear in the filming of the movie “Horse Soldiers” starring John Wayne.
At a Billy Graham service at War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock, Wayne secured his eternal home in Heaven. When employment began at Union National Bank, God set in motion for him to meet fellow employee Ann Archer, who would become his perfect helpmate beginning April 8, 1962.
Together they raised two sons, Steven Wayne and Scott Alan and lived to enjoy seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. They loved their children and grandchildren so much!
Traditions were soon started while the boys were growing up of camping on Lake Ouachita at Shangri-La where they enjoyed all the water sports in the summer. Fall and winter were filled with hunting and Razorback ball games.
Wayne’s growing up was by his Dad’s side learning carpentry skills. In 1976 a deer camp was constructed in Bucksnort. This provided many fun stories with family and friends. Then in 1982 a lake house was built with many helpers on Lake Ouachita for summer activities.
Wayne later worked at Pine Bluff Arsenal where he gained some lifetime friends. He then moved to the Corps of Engineers at Murray Lock and Dam in Little Rock. Upon retirement there, Wayne and Ann started construction on their beautiful home in Bucksnort. Nehemiah’s words in chapter 2Verse 18b seemed to have been their theme during their lives. “Let us arise and build”. So they put their hands to do good work. Gardening skills was another gift of Wayne’s growing wonderful produce they preserved and shared.
The loving fellowship at First Baptist Church welcomed Wayne and Ann where they served on various committees. As Co-Chairman of the FBCF Keenagers trip committee, many fun bus trips were planned.
On January 4, ,1998 the church body found Wayne fulfilled the scripture of 1 Timothy 3, saying he was temperate, prudent, respectable, hospitable and able to teach. He served as Deacon until his death. As a couple, their greatest desire was to be dedicated prayer warriors and brought much comfort to others.
Wayne is survived by his wife of 60 years, Gloria Ann Archer Campbell, his two sons Steve Campbell (Anne) and Scott Campbell (Margaret), seven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren; sister, Wanda Easterling (Jim), and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Seth Ward and Annie Ruth Campbell.
