Sam Austin Miller, 74, of Fordyce died Wednesday December 26, 2018 at the Dallas County Medical Center in Fordyce. Born February 29, 1944 at Kingsland, he was a son of the late Gaston Miller and Mary Etta Robbins Miller.
Sam was a U.S. Navy veteran, serving aboard the USS Turner Joy during the Vietnam War. He was a 51 years Mason and a 50 years Eastern Star. He worked in San Clemente, CA for TRW Space Technologies as a lab tech; 24 years driving a truck for Fordyce Picture Frame; and owned and operated an excavating business for 20 years.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Betty Jean Gill. He is survived by his wife of 24 years, Vickie Miller of Fordyce; two daughters, Shylene Falk of San Clemente, CA, Donna Martindale of New Edinburg; step-son, Rocky Machett of Kingsland; four brothers, William “Billy” Miller and wife Opal of Inola, OK, Bobby Miller and wife Pasty of Sherrill, AR, Roger Miller and wife Dianne of Lexington, VA, Elbert Miller and wife Rose of Kingsland; two grandchildren, Ryan Falk of San Clemente, CA, Dixie Martindale of New Edinburg; mother-in-law, Jean Parrott and a host of nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Friday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the Benton Funeral Home Chapel.
