Royce Elton Lisemby, age 79 of New Edinburg passed away Tuesday, October 20, 2026, at St. Johns Place in Fordyce. He was born May 29, 1947, in New Edinburg, and he graduated from New Edinburg High School. Elton proudly served his country in the United States Army. Following his discharge, he eventually returned home to New Edinburg, a place that remained part of his story throughout his life.

Elton spent many years working at factories in Fordyce, including Fordyce Apparel and Fordyce Picture Frame, before retiring from Georgia Pacific.

Hunting was one of Elton’s greatest joys. Before his health prevented him from returning to the woods, he treasured the time he spent there. Even when he could no longer hunt, his love for it never faded. He enjoyed reminiscing about his younger hunting days and listening to his children and grandchildren share their own hunting experiences. Through those stories, he continued to share in the excitement of a pastime that connected generations of his family.

Elton is preceded in death by his parents, Ross and Ophie Lisemby, brothers Dwight and James Lisemby, sisters Maxine Ivy, Betty Taylor, Sarah Rowland, and Janelle Ward.

Elton is survived by his four children: Connie (Henry) Riley of Stephens; Brian (Mida) Lisemby of Camden; Scott (Tiffany) Lisemby of Sheridan; and Tennia (Dwayne) Clark of Fordyce; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his former wife and friend Patsy Weeks Lisemby.

His family will carry his memory in the stories they tell, the moments they shared, and the hunting traditions that meant so much to him. Though his place among them is now empty, those memories will remain close to their hearts.

Pallbearers are his grandsons: Drew and Seth Clark, Brandon Riley, Hunter and Ross Lisemby, and Logan Clak. Honorary pallbearers are Cannon Dees, David Lisemby, Terry Rowland, and Larry and Steven Ward.

A graveside service will be held at Crossroads Cemetery Friday October 23rd at 10:00 AM with his nephew Tim Ward officiating.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the administration and staff at St. Johns Place for their excellent care during his time there.
