Rex Everett Stanfield, 76 of Fordyce died Sunday March 17, 2024. Born March 28, 1947 at Fordyce, he was a son of the late Jewell “Henry” Henderson Stanfield and Ludie Savannah Word.
Rex was retired from Southern LP Gas after 51 years. He was a Vietnam Veteran, serving in the US Navy. He attended Pine Crest Missionary Baptist church, where he served as deacon and Sunday School Teacher. He was also a member of the DAV and the VFW.
Other than his parents, he was preceded in death by a granddaughter, Shelby Young; siblings James Stanfield, Germaine Stanfield, Jewell Stanfield, Catherine Kelley, A.B. Stanfield, Louise Gunther, Anna Mae Breazeale, Don Stanfield and Jeane Feasler. He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Mitsie Stanfield of Fordyce; a son, Chris Stanfield and his wife Michelle of Fordyce; a daughter, Jennifer Mitchell and her husband, Michael of Fordyce; a sister, Ruby Stanfield Sellers of Fordyce; five grandchildren, Aaron Lyons, Samantha Doherty and her husband Clint, Holly Welter, April Mitchell, Autumn Cox and her husband Connor; and six great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Graveside services will be 2:00 p.m. Wednesday at Ebenezer Cemetery.
