Phillip Thomas Benson, age 68 of Hampton passed away Sunday, May 17, 2026 at South Arkansas Regional Hospital in El Dorado, Arkansas. He was born December 30, 1957 in Hampton, Arkansas. Phillip graduated from Hampton High School in 1976. He retired from the Arkansas Highway Department having worked in both Hampton and El Dorado. He is preceded in death by his parents, Thomas Nolan “Shoaty” Benson and Betty Maroney Benson; and one brother, Steven Wayne Benson. He is survived by one son, Ryne (Brooke) Colvin of El Dorado; one daughter, Lynsey (Matthew) Johnson of Summerville, SC; one sister, Jamie Benson of Benton; four grandchildren, Quinn Ainsley Colvin, Quay Benson Colvin, Ella Grace Johnson, Olivia Kate Johnson; one nephew, Jonathan Scott Benson; four nieces, Stephanie Nicole Reilly, Alexandra Benson Byars, Avery Elizabeth Ray, and Jameson Grace Whittemore.

Phil was a man who found joy in the simple and meaningful things in life. An avid outdoorsman, he felt most at home whether hunting, fishing, working the land, or simply staying home enjoying all that he has built. He believed in hard work and he spent his entire life providing for those he loved.

He will be remembered for his strength, work ethic, and the steady presence he brought to his family and friends. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the memories made outdoors, and the lives he touched along the way.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Hampton. A celebration of his life will follow at 2 p.m. at Victory Baptist Church.
