Orval D. Nix

Orval D. Nix, 85, of Alexandria, LA died Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Christus St. Frances Cabrini Hospital in Alexandria, LA. He was born November 17, 1924 in El Dorado, Arkansas. He was a retired carpenter and a member of Temple Baptist Church in Cullendale, AR. He is preceded in death by his parents, Neely C. and Ruth Wells Nix; one sister, Lucille Nix Wilson; two brothers, John C. Nix and William "Bill" Nix. He is survived by one daughter, Sherry Smith of Alexandria, LA; one brother, Percy D. Nix of Atlanta, GA; two grandchildren, Amy Smith of McKinney, TX, Aaron Smith and wife, Jennifer of Alliance, NE; extended family members, Becky Jacobs and River Preston of Texarkana, TX and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be 10:00 am Monday at Manning Baptist Church in Manning with funeral services following at 11:00 am with Rev. Jerry George officiating. Burial at Delamar Cemetery near Manning.
