Monroe Harris, 85, of Camden, died Wednesday, April 15. 2009 at his home following a long battle with cancer. He was born July 18, 1923 in Bearden, AR. He was preceded in death his parents, Carl Madison and Laura Peters Harris; brothers, Doss Kelly Harris, Kenneth Harris, Carl Reginald Harris; sisters, Rena Harris Sims and Altha Harris Adams.
He was retired from International Paper Company Bagpak Division where he was a printer. He enjoyed gardening, and also did carpentry work in his spare time. He was a member of Immanuel Baptist Church and served his country in the U.S. Navy during World War II.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Marguerite Bettis Harris of Camden; sons, Tommy Harris and Roger Harris both of Camden, Jimmy Harris of Bentonville; grandchildren, Ty and Jamie Harris of Bentonville, Kirsten and Cole Harris of Camden and Kerry Harris Murphree and great-granddaughter, Rachel Murphree of El Dorado; brothers, Nathan Harris of Holly Springs, Chester Harris and Paul Kelly Harris of Camden; sister, Myrtle Jean Poole of Camden and many nieces and nephews.
