Michael R. Bounds, 65, was welcomed to his Heavenly home May 22, 2022. He was gracefully and peacefully allowed to transition into the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ in Heaven with his loving wife Lana by his side at their home.
Michael was born March 5, 1957 in Long Beach, California to Bethel and Betty Bounds.
He was first and foremost an active servant of God. His love of God was at the center of his life as well as the basis and foundation of his and Lana’s marriage. He was an active member of First Assembly of God Church in Hampton where he enjoyed cooking for and fellowship in the Men's Breakfast Ministry among other servitudes. He was a strong and genuine man of God with a servants heart.
Michael was a Senior Tooling Engineer at Aerojet-Rocketdyne for 17 years and at Lockheed Martin for 20 years. He was admired and respected by those he worked with and is surely missed. Michael loved his Aerojet family as his own.
His hobbies included spending time with his family, playing the guitar and banjo, fly fishing, camping, watching baseball and football, and singing and playing Bluegrass music. He had played in several bands throughout his life.
Michael loved his family but he loved God more. God was always first in his life, but his love for his family was so obvious. He loved and cared for us as though he had known and loved us our entire life. He was our dad, beloved Papa, great Papa, brother, father-in-law, uncle, but most importantly he loved my mother and together they built our family.
Michael was preceded in death by his parents Bethel and Betty Bounds and sister-in-law Sandra Bounds.
Surviving family members include his loving and dedicated wife of 18 years Lana Bounds of Hampton. His sons Josh Bounds (Linda) of Camden and Jeremy Hacker (Mandy) of Rockport, TX; his daughters Jennifer Quarles (Deane) of Camden, Angela Jureski (Wayne) of Hampton, and Lacey Thomason (Jarrod) of Harrell; his grandchildren Trenton Griffin (Kristen) of Hampton, Chastity Geer (Trey) of Camden, Taylor Griffin (Stefan) of Camden, Madison Ans (Isaiah) of Montana, Jillian Bounds of Montana, Makenzie Jureski of Hampton, Katie and Maddy Hacker of Johnson City, TX and Kanton and Lathan Thomason of Harrell; his great grandchildren Isabella, Lilly, Canna, and Tayla Hicks, Collins Griffin, Ellie Ans, and Ben Means as well as Gatlin Gibbs due in July and Fallon Geer due in September; his brother David Bounds of Bearden; his nieces and nephews; and his brothers-in-law; sisters-in-law and other extended family.
A special thank you to Dr. Braden and the staff of OCMC Hospice.
