Mary Sue (Walker Humphries) Davis, 92, of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, passed away on Tuesday, November 5, 2024, in her home. Mary was born in Millville, Arkansas on July 29, 1932 to Raymond and Evelyn L. Walker. She married Dr. Bill D. Humphries on June 25, 1949 in Fordyce, Arkansas. They moved to Hattiesburg, Mississippi in January of 1970, where Mary worked in the trust department at Southern National Bank from July of that year until her retirement. After the death of her first husband, Mary married Clarence B. Davis in Hattiesburg on June 11, 1994.
Mary was preceded in death by her first husband Dr. Bill D. Humphries, son James Christopher “Chris” Humphries, son-in-law Larry H. Flak, second husband Clarence B. Davis, her parents Raymond and Evelyn Walker, brother Raymond Eugene Walker, sister Virginia “Jitter” Shaddock, niece Janet Rene Shaddock, nephew Robert Shaddock, and in-laws Jess and Grace Humphries.
Mary is survived by her daughter Deana H. Flak, grandson Jason C. Humphries, granddaughter-in-law Lori Humphries, great-granddaughters Haley C. Ridgely and Mary Emily Humphries, great-great-grandchildren Jaxon Ridgely, Andi Kate Ridgely, and Crew Stanbro. She is also survived by her beloved nieces, nephews, various relatives and friends, four-legged son Winston Davis and grand beagle Gabriel H. Flak.
A memorial service was held on Saturday, November the 16, 2024 at Main Street Methodist Church, 712 North Main Street, Hattiesburg, Mississippi where she had been a member since 1993. Graveside services will be held on Saturday, July 26, 2025 at 1:00 PM at Moss Hill Cemetery in Bearden, Arkansas under the guidance of Benton Funeral Home, Fordyce, Arkansas.
