Mary Rodgers age 88, passed away April 11, 2009 at her home after a lengthy illness. Mary was born in Cleveland County on May 23, 1920 to John and Grace Fikes McLendon. She was a lifelong resident of Rison having attended public schools there. After high school, Mary attended business school in Pine Bluff. After graduation, she worked for Moore's Hardware in Rison. She married Duey Morgan of Kingsland and he was killed in World War II in the Batle of the Bulge on Dec. 31, 1944. She later married J.W. Rodgers of Rison and he died in 1986. She worked for the Selective Service Administration until her retirement.
Mary was a loyal Democrat, a member of the DAR and a member of the Rison Church of Christ.
Mary is survived by nieces, nephews, cousins and a host of friends. She also leaves a very special friend, Maggie, her precious dog. She will be missed by all who knew her sweet spirit, her generosity and her kindness.

Funeral services will be 10:00 am Tuesday April 14, 2009 at the Benton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Greenwood Cemetery in Rison. The family will receive friends from 9:00 until 10:00 AM on Tuesday morning at the Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
