Mary Ellen Cathey Hopkins, 75, of Bearden passed away Friday, April 7, 2017 at St. Vincent's in Little Rock. She was born October 2, 1941 in Bearden, Arkansas. Mary worked at various jobs in the Bearden area, but most of all she was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family and considered this her greatest accomplishment. She was also a faithful member of First Assembly of God Church in Bearden. She is preceded in death by her parents, Virgil Roy Cathey and Ruby Lea Simpson Cathey. She is survived by her husband of 57 years, John David Hopkins of Bearden; one son, Johnny Hopkins and wife Carol of Bearden; two daughters, Kaye Baird and husband Jimmy of Bearden, Brigette Rose and husband Mark of Bossier City, LA; one brother, Larry Cathey of Bearden; two sisters, Lucy Shurtleff of Bearden, and Helen Willson and husband Bill of North Little Rock; one nephew, Keith Willson and wife Leah of North Little Rock; three grandchildren, Mark Hopkins of Fordyce, Dustie Jo Hopkins of Bearden, Jack Rose and Baby Rose of Bossier City, LA; four great grandchildren, Joey and Jasper Bryge of Bearden, Beau Hopkins and Fletcher Trabbic of Smackover. Visitation will be Sunday 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Benton Funeral Home in Bearden. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday at First Assembly of God Church in Bearden with Rev. Tyler Harris and Rev.
