Marion Stanley "Monkey" Thornton, 79, of Fordyce died Sunday, June 14, 2015 at his home. He was born October 12, 1935 in Fordyce, Arkansas. He was a member of Temple Baptist Church of Fordyce. He is preceded in death by his parents, Claude Francis Thornton and Ernie Elizabeth Tuberville Thornton; two brothers, J.R. Cubage and Richard Thornton; two sisters, Frances White and Jackie White. He is survived by his wife, Sylvia Thornton of Fordyce; one step son, Rev. Jerry Cook of Little Rock; three step daughters, Terri Lasiter of Sharpsburg, GA, Paula Cook of Houston, TX, Connie Cox of Virginia Beach, VA; two brothers, Kenneth Thornton of North Little Rock, Bobby Thornton of Fordyce; one sister, Ruby Vance of West Monroe, LA; three grandchildren, Cody Daley of Richmond, VA, Kalie Lasiter of Atlanta, GA, Petyon Lasiter of Philadelphia, PA; and one great grandchild, Liam Daley of Richmond, VA. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to CARTI Foundation PO Box 55011 Little Rock, AR 72215. Visitation will be Wednesday 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Thursday at Benton Funeral Home with Rev. Jeremy Horton, Rev. Nathan Petty and Bobby Thornton officiating. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery.
