Lyndell Abbott Hughes

Lyndell Abbott Hughes, 82 of Fordyce died Friday June 23, 2017 at St. John's Place in Fordyce. She was born in Dallas County on May 26, 1935 to the late Herschel and Katie Abbott. She graduated from Sparkman High School on May 22, 1953. Lyndell was a member of Pine Crest Baptist Church and a fifty year member of the Order of the Eastern Star Chapter #212. Other than her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Troy Hughes; two sisters, Mary Morton, Dr. Judy Abbott; one brother, Dean Abbott; one infant daughter, Nocona Frances; and one great-granddaughter, Lexi Mitchell. She is survived by one son, Charles Hughes (Kim) of Fordyce; one daughter, Sarah Mitchell (Danny) of Kingsland; three grandchildren, Chance Mitchell (Amanda) of Kingsland, Brandy Herring (James) of Kingsland, Stacy Hughes of Seagonville, TX; one step grandson, Christopher Johnston of Conway; two great- granddaughters and one great-grandson. Visitation will be Sunday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services are 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Benton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Rick Bolin officiating. Burial will follow at Liberty Cemetery. The family would like to thank the Arkansas Heart Hospital, Arkansas Hospice, Nutt-Walley Clinic and St. John's Place.
