Lyda Amason

Lyda Shirey Amason, age 100, passed away on June 27, 2024 at Montgomery County Nursing Home. She was born at Weldon, Louisiana, June 25, 1924 to parents Thomas Clifford and Myra Lee Shirey. Lyda was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Burnie, and four siblings: Howelene Skinner, Norma Prince, Harry Shirey, and Robert Shirey.

She is survived by three children: Rebecca Riner (Dan), Tommy Amason (Ann), and Claire Kuhn (Jim). She delighted in her grandchildren and great grandchildren. They are Andy Amason (Joy), Andy Riner (Candace), Joey Riner, Hope Magner (David), Gaile Prater (Patrick), Jonathan Riner, Sam Kuhn (Abby), and Sally Kuhn. Great grandchildren are Jessi Amason, Meg Hill (Noah), Phoenix Prater, Quinn, Hollen and Dolly Clarke Kuhn.

Lyda instilled a love for God’s world into her family. She was an artist who drew inspiration from nature. She enjoyed singing, drawing, painting, and birdwatching. Lyda was a dedicated employee of the Department of Human Services of Arkansas Social Services for 28 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Fordyce for sixty-one years, where she faithfully served the Lord.

Graveside services will be held Tuesday July 2, 2024, at 2:00 PM at Stoney Point Cemetery in Fordyce, Arkansas. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to First Baptist Church Keenagers and Food Pantry. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
