Laverne Evans

Laverne Evans, 75, of Thornton died Wednesday July 31, 2013 at the Medical Center of South Arkansas in El Dorado. Born June 17, 1938 in Calhoun County, he was a son of the late Lacy and Minnie Linker Evans. Mr. Evans was a retired log yard supervisor for Bearden Lumber Company. He was preceded in death by his parents; three brothers, Whittie Evans, Lavoid Evans, and Lavelle Evans. He is survived by his wife of 54 years, LaFran Evans of Thornton; son, Robert Evans and wife Cindy of Bearden; daughter, Elisha Evans Gray and husband Jim of Chambersville; brother, Lamar Evans and wife Judy of Fordyce; four grandchildren, Ashley Sebring and husband, Jimmie of Bearden, Justin Evans and wife, Regina of Ottawa, KS, Aimee Morgan and husband, Scott of Warren, Rebekah Riggan and husband, Ross of Hensley; nine great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews, and a special little buddy, Hunter Stringfellow. The family will receive friends Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Thornton Cemetery with Rev. Kevin Stevicks officiating.
