Larry Joe Brown, born on September 13, 1953, in Holly Springs, Arkansas, passed away on January 17, 2025, in Fordyce, Arkansas at the age of 71. A lifelong resident of Fordyce, Larry was a familiar figure in his community, known for his dedication to carpentry and flooring, which he mastered over decades of diligent work. His career began at the age of 17 with Puterbaugh Enterprises and later included a successful stint working alongside his brother, Jerry. In 2003, he became self-employed, gaining recognition for his unmatched expertise in flooring. Larry was a man of deep faith, in the Baptist faith having embraced his beliefs early in life. His love for the outdoors was evident in his avid hunting and fishing pursuits, often sharing these experiences with his son Joe and his close friend Steve, from which many memorable stories originated. He leaves behind a legacy of love and mentorship, particularly evident in his years coaching baseball in Bearden, where he touched the lives of many young athletes. His pride and joy was his two grandsons, Austin and Lane.
Larry's family was the cornerstone of his life, and he is survived by his daughter, Tabitha (Jeremy) Bass; grandchildren, Austin (Taylor) Brown, Lane Rushing (Hannah Riggan), Crystal (Shea) Hays, and Melody Langley (Zach Golden); seven great-grandchildren, Christopher, Colton, Arya, Hadleigh, Hadison, Willow, and MaKenna; and his very best buddy, Kathy Hays.
He was preceded in death by his son, Robert Joe Brown; his parents, John Henry Brown and Dorothy C. Shaddock Brown; and several siblings. John, Garry, Jerry and Danny Brown, Dorothy Jones, Laverne Richardson and Diane Witham.
Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Benton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial we be at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Holly Springs, Arkansas.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Hospice Promise Foundation/Elite Hospice, 4000 AR-5 Suite 5, Bryant, AR 72022, in memory of Larry’s compassionate spirit and lasting impact on his community.
