John A. Stewart, age 90 of Camden, Arkansas died Friday, May 19, 2023 at Silver Oaks Nursing Home in Camden. He was born June 27, 1932 in Gurdon, Arkansas. He was a retired small engine repairman, a former member of Calvary Assembly of God Church, and later he was a traveling minister; preaching and singing with his wife, Virginia and granddaughter, Christa.
John is preceded in death by his parents, Elmer Stewart and Martha Tirpitz Stewart, wives, Virginia Jones Stewart, Fern Bruton Stewart, and Margaret Bradford Stewart; one sister, Gracie Robertson; and six brothers, George, Leo, Elmer Alan, Gerald, Edward, Jack, and Franklin Stewart. He is survived by one son, John E. (Sharon) Stewart of Camden; two step-sons, George Johnston of Camden, David Bruton of Little Rock; two daughters, Gloria Johnson of Camden, Rhonda Viney of Pleasant Hill, MO; two sisters-in-law, Doris Stewart of Conway, Edythe Stewart of Branson, MO; six grandchildren, Christa (Ray) Gammill of Camden, Virginia Powers of Camden, Mary (Robert) Stevens of Camden, John Viney of Blue Springs, MO, Kenneth Johnson of Rochester, NH, Crystal Blake of NH; fourteen great grandchildren, Kodie, Alley, Nick, Paul, Kevin, Chyenne, Carlie, Melody, Ryan, Maddie, Derick, Kyliee, Sean, Kiearra; and friend, Greg Spears of Chidester.
Memorial services will are 10:00 am Wednesday at Sylvan Hill Baptist Church in Camden. There will be a visitation from 9:00 am until 10:00 am before the service.
