John Thomas Emerson, 63, of Fordyce died Sunday, June 26, 2011. He was born August 27, 1947 in Calhoun County. He was a retired logger. He was preceded in death by his parents, John "Rich" Emerson and Linnie Wagnon Emerson; son, Danny Joe Emerson; brothers, Jack Emerson and Bill Emerson; sister, Connie Emerson; sister-in-law, Marie Emerson; brothers-in-law, Carl Lucas and Bill Curl; nephews, Paul Wayne Emerson and Chris Emerson. He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Janice Emerson of Fordyce; two sons and daughters-in-law; Mark and Kim Emerson of New Edinburg, Kenneth and Rickie Lynn Bryant of Fordyce; three brothers, Kenneth Emerson of Fordyce, Sam Emerson and wife Jo Ann of Fordyce, Ronnie Emerson and wife Chris of Bearden; six sisters, Mary and husband Tom Turner of Hampton, Kate and husband Bud Mercer of Tinsman, Betty Lucas, Pat Curl, Ida and husband Dale Cowles, Edna and husband Bruce Knight all of Hodgenville, KY; special nieces, Kara Massey of Fordyce, Leaann Mercer of Bryant; eleven grandchildren and four great grandchildren; many nephews, nieces and a host of friends. Visitation will be 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm Tuesday at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Wednesday at Benton Funeral Home with Rev. Jackie Townsell and Rev.
