John David Smith

John David Smith, 80, of Fordyce died Friday, January 18, 2013 at Jefferson Regional Medical Center in Pine Bluff. He was born March 7, 1932 in Dierks, Arkansas. He was a retired mechanic for the Dallas County Road Department and was a member of Southside Baptist Church in Fordyce. He is preceded in death by his parents, Harry Smith and Mary Ethel Brandon Smith; two brothers, Bobby Joe Smith and Curtis Donald Smith; one sister, Amanda Mae Smith Lay; and one daughter, Connie Sue Smith. He is survived by his wife, Kathleen Smith of Fordyce; two sons, Buddy Ray Smith of El Dorado, John Thomas Smith of Fordyce; three daughters, Linda Franklin and Mary Huntley both of Kingsland, and Rose Hopkins of Bearden; one brother, Shelby Dean Smith of Fordyce; eleven grandchildren, twenty one great grandchildren and six great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be Saturday 6:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce with Rev. Mike White and Brother Jackie Bevill officiating. Burial will follow at Temperance Hill Cemetery near Fordyce. Arrangements by Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce.
