Jimmy James, 73 of Thornton died Sunday January 13, 2019. He was born January 8, 1946 in Camden to the late Gurtman and Jewel White James.
Jimmy married Diane (Domanski) on Feb 12, 1969. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved the outdoors. He retired from Associated Pipeline Contractors in 2011 and was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 324 for 50 years. He was an active member of Thornton First Baptist Church.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his wife. He is survived by his son, Charles James and daughter-in-law Beth James of Bryant; daughter, Lisa Diane Ashmore, and son-in-law, Drake Ashmore of Hot Springs; sister, Barbara Sue Whitley of Thornton; grandchildren , Jared James, Mary Beth James, Alder Ashmore, Juniper Ashmore, Cedar Ashmore, and Sarah Ashmore.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Funeral services will be 2:00 p.m. Friday January 18, 2019 at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Burial will follow at Thornton Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Memorials may be made to Thornton Cemetery, C/O Judy Freeman, PO Box 31, Thornton, AR 71766.
