Jessie Ruth Chambliss Strickland

Jessie Ruth Chambliss Strickland, 85, of Hampton passed away Wednesday, September 30, 2015 at Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden. She was born August 5, 1930 in Bearden, Arkansas. She was a homemaker and a member of Hampton First Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her parents, James Alvah Chambliss and Ethel Sanders Chambliss; husband, Bernie Leroy Strickland; four sisters, Clemmie McCoy, Bertha Hendrix, Annie Sue Harmon, and Allene Johnson; one brother, J.E. Chambliss; two grandsons, Jeffery Strickland and Casey Gilbert. She is survived by one son, Loren Strickland and wife Charlotte of West Memphis; four daughters, Teresa Graybill and husband Virgil, Francille Mitchell and husband Phillip, Delilah Daniel and husband Dennis, and Malinda Strickland all of Hampton; three sisters, Carolyn Evans of Drasco, Bernice Robertson of Camden, and Louise James of Tulsa, OK; nine grandchildren, three step grandchildren, twenty great grandchildren, four step great grandchildren and seven great-great grandchildren. Visitation will be Friday 5:00 pm until 8:00 pm at Hampton First Baptist Church. Funeral services will be 10:00 am Saturday at Hampton First Baptist Church with Rev. Loren Strickland and Rev. David Mitchell officiating. Burial will follow at Means Cemetery. Pallbearers will be grandsons, Jason Strickland, Joshua Strickland, Michael Gilbert, Rick Strickland, Warren Clemens, and David Mitchell. Arrangements by Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce.
