Jeannie Padbury Devlin

June 4, 1927 — August 15, 2014

JEANNE PADBURY DEVLIN, 87, of Fordyce, Arkansas passed away peacefully at St. John's Place on Friday, August 15th, 2014. A much loved mother, grandmother and friend, Jeanne was born on June 4th, 1927 in Switchback, West Virginia. She attended the College of William and Mary in Williamsburg, Virginia where she met Robert ("Bob") Emmett Devlin. Bob and Jeanne later married and raised four children.
She is survived by her son, Doug Devlin of Starkville, Mississippi; son, Robert Devlin and his wife Patty of Ringgold, Georgia; and son James Devlin and his wife Cindy, of Fountain Hills, Arizona. She leaves behind six grandchildren: Katie Midgley and her husband Tom, Brian Devlin, Max Devlin, Blake Devlin, Tanner Devlin, Lauren Devlin and one great grandchild, Braxton.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Fred Padbury and Willie Sale Padbury Fix; and one daughter, Ellen Devlin.

Like her mother Willie ("Na Na"), Jeanne will always be remembered for her kind and gentle spirit. She never ceased to amaze others with how she could calmly accept whatever adversity came her way without complaint. In addition to her love of family and friends, Jeanne was well known for her kindness to animals. She will be sorely missed, but her example of how to live a happy, accepting and giving life will resonate in the minds of those who loved her for years to come.
Jeanne was a founding member of the Good Shepherd Catholic Church and its eldest member at the time of her death.
A memorial service will be held at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Fordyce, Arkansas at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, August 23rd, 2014. In lieu of flowers, donations ("In memory of Jeanne Devlin") can be sent to the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, P.O. Box 565, Fordyce, Arkansas 71742.
