J.C. Thomason, age 90, passed away Tuesday, November 12, 2013, in Marshall, Texas. He was born October 24, 1923, in Tinsman, Arkansas, to Arthur and Bernie Benson Thomason.
J.C. served in the U.S. Marine Corps during WWII and was a longtime member of First Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas. He loved his country, family, his home state of Arkansas, and especially the Razorbacks. J.C. also liked to fish and travel around the country with his wife in their R.V.
He is survived by his daughter, Sherry Henderson and husband Henry; grandchildren, Sha Moody and husband Greg, and Curt Spakes and wife Kim; great-grandchildren, Alec Hartz and Addisyn Spakes; sister, Dorothy Shirey; and many other family members and friends who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Trudy; brothers, Travis, Jack, Cliff, Harold and Boyce Thomason; sisters, Ionie Groce, Zoe Sherman, and Ethel Robbins.
Visitation for J.C. will be 12:30-1:30 PM, Thursday, November 14, 2013, at First Baptist Church in Sparkman, Arkansas with the funeral service to follow at 1:30 PM. Burial will be in Sparkman Cemetery. Arrangements by Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce.
The family requests, in lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to First Baptist Church in Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
