James Relda Spears

James Relda Spears, 88, of Fordyce, died Friday October 23, 2009 at the Dallas County Medical Center. Mr. Spears was born in New Edinburg, AR, on November 24, 1920 to the late Jim Ruben & Ludie Jeffress Spears. Mr. Spears honorably & faithfully served his country in the United States Army during World War II. He was a member of the Kingsland Missionary Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon, the retired owner/operator of Spears Construction Company, a member of the Fordyce Chapter of the Gideons International, American Legion, & lifetime member of the VFW.



Mr. Spears is survived by his wife, Peggy Quinn Spears of Fordyce, AR; two sons, Farrell Lee Tucker of San Antonio, TX, Rev. Lance Quinn of Little Rock, AR; a daughter, Penni Quinn of Maumelle, AR; twelve grandchildren, & seven great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Euda Bea Spears, & eight brothers & sisters.



Funeral services will be 10:00 AM Tuesday October 27, 2009 at the Benton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in McCoy Cemetery with the Rev. Rick Bolin officiating. The family will receive friends from 6:00 until 8:00 pm Monday evening at the funeral home in Fordyce. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
