James Gilmore Palmer

James Gilmore Palmer, 79, of Fordyce, died Monday June 2, 2008 at the Dallas County Medical Center. Mr. Palmer was born in Clark County on November 21, 1928 to the late Felix B. & Floy McAlister Palmer. He was a member and Deacon of the Zion Baptist Church in Fordyce.

He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Evelyn Lucille Freeman Palmer of Fordyce, AR; a son Jimmie Wayne Palmer & wife B.J. of Fordyce, AR; two daughters, Mary Lou Palmer Cortez & husband Paul Gene of Fordyce, AR, Ruth Ann Palmer Hilliard of Fordyce, AR; a brother, Bennie Palmer & wife Lynda of Benton, AR; seven grandchildren, Corey G. Cortez & wife Lynn of Bryant, AR, Carrie Ann Palmer Lynn & husband Steven of Houston, TX, Cameron Cortez Brown & husband Jason of Springdale, AR, Victoria Hilliard of Fordyce, AR, Michelle Casey & husband Craig of Lawenceville, NJ, David Ramsay & wife Jerri Lynn of Fordyce, AR, Jon Paul Ramsay of Fordyce, AR; & fifteen great grandchildren; and a large number of extended family & many, many, friends. Mr. Palmer was preceded in death by two brothers, Harold "Harry" & Mack Palmer, & three sisters, Mary Jane "Sally" Palmer Jarrett, Margaret Palmer Hadley, & Sue Palmer McNutt.

Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Wednesday June 4, 2008 at the Benton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Tanyard Cemetery with the Rev. Nick Flowers officiating.
