James E. Berry, 87, died Tuesday, July 21, 2009 at his home in Fordyce. He was born September 1, 1921 in Fordyce. He was a member of West 4th Church of Christ, a retired boiler operator for the Pine Bluff Arsenal. Mr. Berry was also a World War II Army veteran. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Elmo and Rose Ella Sission Berry, son, Lynn Overton Berry, brothers, Paul, Roland and Edgar Lee Berry, sisters, Vera McDade and Mary Jane Kilpatrick and great-grandson, Christopher A. Smith. He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Ellean Owen Berry of Fordyce; sons, David Berry of Banks and Wayne Berry and wife Rhonda of Fordyce; daughters, Reba Parker of Hot Springs, Charlotte Brinkley and husband Clyde of Fordyce, Rose McNeil and husband J.P. of Hickory Plains, Virginia McClure and husband Deloy of Okolona; brother, N.H. Berry and wife Mildred of Ivan, sister, Martha Hurst of Ivan; twelve grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren. Visitation will be Thursday 6pm until 8pm at Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce. Graveside services will be 4:00 pm Friday at Oakland Cemetery with Rev. Tony Easterling officiating. Arrangements by Benton Funeral Home in Fordyce.
