Ilene Marie Moll "Molly" Arnette, 99 of Fordyce, died Monday, January 1, 2018 in Fordyce. A daughter of Frederick Joseph and Sophie Iowa Trites Moll, she was born in Gillett, Arkansas on February 26, 1918. Molly is preceded in death by her parents; a brother, Cecil Frederick Moll; a sister, Wyvonna Moll Prater Ball; and her beloved husband of forty-six years, Joseph Marion Arnette.
Molly graduated from Tyronza High School in 1935 and from Arkansas State Teacher's College in 1939 with a degree in mathematics. She met Joe at a county teachers meeting in Elaine, Arkansas; they married and returned to Fordyce after WWII where she resided until her death.
Molly will long be remembered by many students in her 27 years as a math teacher at Fordyce High School. She also worked beside her husband at Hickey's Store for over 40 years. She had numerous interests and hobbies including: teaching Sunday school classes at First Baptist Church; playing golf with her husband and friends; gardening at her home that she and Joe built; being a member of the Sesame Club; traveling to several European countries; and playing cards with a special group of Widow Ladies.
Molly is survived by two daughters: Ann Arnette Lindsey (James of Hot Springs and Janet Arnette Horton (Lynn) of Hot Springs; four grandchildren: Laura Lindsey-Boltz (Ed of Durham, North Carolina; Marla Lindsey Wirges (Rick) of Little Rock; Tiffany Horton Estes (David) of Little Rock; and Stephen Arnette Horton (Tori) of Little Rock; and eight great grandchildren: Julia, Elizabeth, Nathan, Lindsey, Megan, Aiden, Eli and Molly.
A celebration of Molly's life will be at First Baptist Church in Fordyce on Friday, January 5, 2018 at 1:00 PM. A visitation will follow the service at the First Baptist Family Life Center.
