Hughy Phillip Rowen, 100 of Hampton passed away December 15, 2025, with his family by his side. He was born on August 30, 1925, to Morris and Susie Rowen.
H. P. was an active member of the Hampton Church of Christ.
H. P. was a WWII veteran. He served in the Navy aboard the USS West Virginia BB-48 where his job was as primer man of a 16-inch battleship gun.
H. P. was employed by Lyon Oil and Monsanto Chemical companies in El Dorado, AR before starting his own welding business at his home in Hampton.
H. P. loved spending time with family. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and hunting. He enjoyed playing cards, especially "Pitch".
H. P. was a quiet man, unless you got him talking about sports, hunting and his military service years.
H. P. is preceded in death by his parents, Morris and Susie (Files) Rowen, all his siblings, four sisters, Francis Watson, Alma Gardner, Mamie Brown, Lillian Taylor and one brother Henry Rowen. He was the youngest of his family.
H. P. is survived by his wife, Mary Rowen of 72 years; son, Phil (Tammy) Rowen of Camden, AR; son Doug (Debbie) Rowen of Burleson, TX; daughter, Jill (Michael) Green of Gatlinburg, TN, six grandchildren: Anna (Blake) Lambert of Melissa, TX; Christina (Mohamed) Mokhtar Hassan of San Antonio, TX; David (Jessie) Rowen of Amity, AR; Allie (Cory) Lambert of Celeste, TX; Shianne Green of Columbia, TN; Stephen Green of Jackson, TN; seven great-grandchildren; three nieces and one nephew.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hampton Church of Christ and Arbor Hospice of Camden, AR.
The family will receive friends on Friday from 5PM until 7PM at Benton Funeral Home in Hampton. Funeral services will be 2PM Saturday at Hampton Church of Christ in Hampton.
