Former Ouachita County Judge, Howard Russell, passed away Friday, May 09, 2008 at the age of 86. He served as county judge from September, 1981 through December, 1983. He was a retired Baptist minister, was past president of Harmony Grove School Board, and has served his community in many ways for many years. He served in the 294th Squardon during World War 11.
He is preceded in death by his parents, G.W. and Annie Russell, son-in-law Donald Starr, grandson Jason Starr and several brothers and sisters.
He is survived by his wife, Martha Russell, daughters Margaret Molton, husband Don of Chidester, Linda Starr of Camden, Lisa Smith, husband John of Wynne, and son Ronald L. Russell of Star City. He has six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also, sisters Nellie Bearden and Mary Wilson of Camden and brother, Harold Russell of Texarkana.
Visitation will be Friday night 6-8 pm at the funeral home in Fordyce. Services will be Saturday, May 10, 2008 at 3 PM at Benton Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will be in Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Tinsman, AR. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce. To sign the online register visit
