Hershel Loyd Burks

Hershel Loyd Burks, 64, of Fordyce died Wednesday May 26, 2010 at the Dallas County Medical Center in Fordyce. Born September 2, 1945 at Pine Bluff, he was a son of the late Vester and Bessie Anderson Burks. He worked as a baker for 28 years before retiring. He was a Baptist. He was preceded in death by a son, Phillip Burks; four brothers, Roy Ray Burks, James Rufus Burks, Roger Burks, and V.J. Burks; one sister, Louise Harper. He is survived by his wife, Angie Burks of Fordyce; one daughter, Rhonda Hankins of Star City, two step-daughters, Brittany Warren of Rison and Kayla Ward of Fordyce; two brothers, Billy Wayne Burks of Redfield, David Earl Burks of Pine Bluff; two sisters, Artiva Shelton of Pine Bluff, Barbara Jean Burks of Branson, MO; and many grandchildren. Graveside services will be 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Bryant Cemetery with Rev. Billy Wayne Burks officiating. Arrangements by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce.
