Helen Ruth Hawkins Ritchie of Hampton. God received a very special angel on September 16, 2008. Helen was born in Louann, Arkansas on June 16, 1925 to William and Ruth Bailey Hawkins. She graduated from Hampton High and then married Billy Ritchie soon after graduation.
Helen was a very strong willed lady who amazed all who knew her with her determination to overcome years of illnesses to live life to its fullest.
After her children were grown, Helen fulfilled her dreams by furthering her studies in music and art.
For several years, she would play the piano for her own church, the First Baptist, and then play in the evening for the Faustina Methodist Church.
Helen had a tremendous love for her family, friends, church, her home and her yard. The saddest time was when she could no longer mow her yard. But even when she wasn't able, she would confess that she made a few "rounds" on the ridding lawnmower when no one was looking.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, William and Ruth Bailey Hawkins, her husband, Billy Ritchie, a son, James Michael Ritchie, and two brothers, Kenneth and Keith Hawkins.
She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Gary and Joann Ritchie of Maumelle, AR; a daughter, Linda Ritchie Beggs of Benton, AR; grandsons, Michael and Becky Beggs of Benton, AR, Mitchell and Kellie Beggs of Benton, AR, Jonathan Ritchie of St. Louis, MO, and Jeffery Dorman of Houston, TX; great-grandchildren, Kodi, Alyssa and soon to be Ethan Beggs all from Benton, AR; a brother, Murphy and Thelma Hawkins of Austin, TX; a sister, Dorothy and Max Tucker of Dallas, TX, and many wonderful nephews, nieces and cousins.
