Gloria Ann Archer Campbell, 80 of Fordyce, went to be with her Lord Jesus Christ on November 14, 2022. On that day he stretched out his nail-scarred hand and called Ann to come up and see what He had prepared for her, exactly one month to the day that her loving husband Seth Wayne Campbell preceded her in death to help make ready her spot in Heaven.
Ann was born June 27, 1942 to Jewell Archer and Hannah Belle Oakley Archer. Upon graduating from Hazen High School in 1960, Ann was employed by Union National Bank where she met Wayne. It was a match made in Heaven. They were married April 8, 1962. They worked side-by-side raising two sons, Steven Wayne and Scott Alan who will attest to the fact that their mother did not possess an idle bone in her body. Any project she participated in was given 100% effort.
Ann’s mighty love of life kept her planning trips to the beach, cruises, deer hunts, Razorback games, and fishing trips to their lake house on Lake Ouachita with family and friends. Playing cards was another passion. Christmas get-togethers for about 30 family members were very memorable, always making each child and grandchild’s favorite food.
Ann spent 21 years as secretary to Little Rock Terry School, utilizing her good organizational skills for many principals. Upon Wayne retiring from the Corps of Engineers in 1994, they made their home in Fordyce to enjoy country life, joining her mom and dad, her sister Margaret Tidwell, and brother Derwood (Karen), and their families.
Ann and Wayne became active in Fordyce First Baptist Church and served on many committees. The most rewarding was Trip Coordinator for the Keenagers, planning many fun-filled trips in and out of state.
Wayne and Ann were true “prayer warriors” for everyone they had contact with. The results were amazing in many cases.
Ann’s abiding love for her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ helped sustain the hard fought battles with the many illnesses, showing a godly determination to fight the good fight with faith and trust, adding many years to her longevity.
Ann is survived by her sons, Steve Campbell (Anne) and Scott Campbell (Margaret); her grandchildren: Bryan Campbell (Stephanie), Jenny Evans (Austin), Kelly Campbell, Seth Campbell (Megan), PJ Bolin (Nikki), Sarah Barnes (David), and Molly Campbell; great grandchildren: Brayden, Brianna, Leanna, Brooklyn, Tyler, Graceland, Anthony, and Sable; her sister Margaret Tidwell, brother Derwood Archer (Karen), sister-in-law Wanda Easterling (Jim), and many loving nieces and nephews.
A visitation will be Thursday morning, November 17th, from 10AM until 11AM at First Baptist Church – Fordyce. Funeral services will follow at 11AM at the church. Burial will be at McDonald Cemetery. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce. To sign the online register visit
