George "Bo" Matthews

George "Bo" Matthews, 87, of Tulip passed away Wednesday January 24, 2018 at his home. He was born April 23, 1930 in Tulip, AR to Ben and Beatrice Matthews. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife, Alice Matthews; grandson, Brick Ables; granddaughter, Jacquline Ables; sons-in-law Marvin Harrison and Ron Wylie; daughter-in-law, Carol Ables.
He is survived by his brother, Phil Matthews of Tulip; sister Ellen Botsford of North Little Rock; son, Jay Ables of Tulip; daughters, Jeri Harrison of Thornton, Karen Wylie of Tulip; nine grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren. Bo was an active member of the Tulip Methodist Church where he served as secretary/treasurer until his health would no longer permit, a volunteer firefighter and served as board president for many years, and was on the board for Tulip Cemetery. He was also an Air Force Veteran.
Visitation will be Saturday January 27 from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. at Tulip Methodist Church with funeral services following at 2:00 p.m. Burial will follow at Tulip Cemetery. Arrangements are by Benton Funeral Home of Fordyce. To sign the online register visit www.bentonfuneralhome.net .
