Eula Mary Bailey Roark (January 21,1919-February 10, 2012)
Raised on the bayou in DeRidder, LA, the youngest of 12 children, where Eula was taught the value of hard work and the importance of patience. Granny, as she was known by her eight grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren, cooked the best chocolate pie, baked cream corn and never found a vegetable she couldn't persuade even the pickiest of eaters to taste. Even the State Treasurer of Arkansas believed so strongly in the healing powers of her kitchen skills, Eula was made an Honorary Chief Deputy, a real thrill for Granny to receive.
Married to her one true love, I.W. (Pete) Roark and mother of three children: I.B. (Benny) Roark, Larry W. Roark and Nancy Roark Newcomb, Eula never missed and opportunity to teach everyone she met the importance of love and giving back. She was a life long volunteer for the March of Dimes, savvy business leader, and master fisherwoman, with a cane pole no less.
Godfrey Landing on the Saline River was always her refuge and even there she taught us all the gift of nature and the peace one can feel when catching a "mess" of fish.
Eula has but one surviving sibling, Clory Bailey Green, aged 104. Someday we will all be joined again on the banks of God's good river, together for eternity.
Graveside services will be held Monday, February 13th at 2p.m.
