Ernest J. Barner

Ernest J. Barner, 88, of Hampton died Saturday May 3, 2008 at the Ouachita County Medical Center in Camden. Born July 31, 1919 at Bearden, he was a son of the late Franklin and Rosa Gammill Barner. Mr. Barner worked for the Arkansas Highway Department and was a member of the Hampton Church of Christ. He was preceded in death by one son, Bradley Barner; one daughter, Melissa Barner; a grandson, Justin Strickland, five brothers and two sisters. Survivors are his wife, Una Vee Sanders Barner of Hampton; one step-son, J. D. Oliver of Hampton; one daughter, Roxie Barner of Texas; one brother, Nick Barner of Delight; three sisters, Pearl Stonecipher of Ft. Worth, TX, Rosemary Barner of Camden, Daphne Bennett of Camden; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. The family will receive friends 6 to 9 p.m. Sunday at Benton Funeral Home in Hampton. Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday at the Hampton Church of Christ with Rev. Roy Stringfellow and Rev. Jerry Berley officiating. Burial will follow at New Hope Cemetery.
