Edith Ann Evans Slaughter, age 64 of Hampton, Arkansas passed away from cancer and its complications on Thursday September 30, 2021.
Edith was born on November 8, 1956 in Hampton, Arkansas. She was the daughter of Sam and Minnie Alexander Evans. She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, Sammy Evans who she lost early in life to Vietnam; Stepson Jerry Slaughter and sister-in-law Johnnie Evans.
She was a member of Union Grove Church in Harrell, where she loved her church family and friends. She enjoyed fishing, gardening, canning, spending time outdoors and on her porch visiting with friends.
Edith was a great friend to many and would do anything for anyone. She loved her family, friends, and her puppy dogs. She will always be remembered for those daily phone calls checking on folks and offering to help. Those calls will be greatly missed by many. She was the lifeline to many shut ins throughout the county and always filled you in on the weather forecast.
She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Monroe Slaughter of Hampton; her brother, Randall Evans of Magnolia; a sister, Kay Boles and husband William Francis of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; stepson Tommy Slaughter of Hampton, stepdaughter Melinda Lewis and husband Mike of El Dorado; two grandchildren, Adri Kooms of Fayetteville and Dustin Lewis of El Dorado.
